Miscellaneous

One year ago July, I received a phone call from a man with an Indian accent claiming that through microsoft he learned of many viruses on my computer and he works for IFix YrPC.com. I allowed him to have access to my computer to point out the viruses. Then, I purchased an anti-virus program as well as some defrag and disk cleanup applications, totaling $179. Which I paid with PayPal (using American Express card).in the past week, I noticed on my caller ID that I missed a few calls from McGraw Hill. Today, McGraw Hill phoned, I answered and an Indian man told me that he detected viruses on my computer. I became suspicious so I told him he would have to call me back later because I was on my way to work. Then, I immediately called IFixYrPC and kept getting a recording that they couldn't take any calls. When I finally got through, I really did need to go to work, so I asked that they call me back in the evening and they never did and now I cannot get through to them at all. I am nervous because I had confidential files in Microsoft Word re: Logins and Passwords to various businesses that I conduct.
Later today, I looked up IFixYrPC on google, only to learn that various people have had the same experience as me. I am disgusted and fearful of identity theft.
