CVS Pharmacy
CVS Pharmacy charges full copay for medication, shorts dosage. - Novolin 70/30 insulin

Miscellaneous

As a Type-2 diabetic, I take maintenance insulin on an ongoing basis. CVS Caremark just won the maintenance medication supplier contract for the CALPERS retirement system, which I get my health insurance through. My doctor writes prescriptions for 90 day supply of medications that I take and have filled through CVS. When having my insulin refilled yesterday, they charged me the full copay amount for a 90 day supply, but would not provide enough medication to fulfill that time frame. When asked about this, they blamed it on the packaging of the insulin (standard packaging of 10cc bottles) causing the shortage. They insisted that they were unable to provide enough to complete the 90 day period because they could not give me a partial bottle of insulin. I have always received enough insulin to complete the 90 day period from prior pharmacy suppliers (the additional vial) until now. Seems like fraud to me. Local pharmacy blames insurance.insurance documents dictate copay for 90 day supply, not partial.
