Individual from India or with Strong Indian accent called to say he was representing Microsoft with Windows application and had been notified that our computer had viruses and other problems that were going to cause it to crash almost immediately. He guaranteed to fix the computer, speed it up, and offered all the Windows software included on all 3 computers for lifetime. He convinced my husband to allow him to access 2 computers remotely and add the software.in the process, he deleted our Norton security. Unfortunately he also pressed & received a credit card authorization for the $349.
I have tried repeatedly since that date to contact the company with the phone number provided which it appears all victims of the fraudalent scam received (201) 338 6170. The message indicated all circuits are busy [anytime 24 hours a day]. When I googled the company name to see if there were other contact numbers, I discovered this was a phone scam. There is no support service or company, only a shell to obtain your money and access your computer.
Since that time, I have called the credit card company to dispute the charge for services never received and cancelled the card.in fact, I have followed all the procedures recommended for identity theft, including filing a police report, alerting all banks and credit card companies, credit reporting agencies, IRS, Social Security, FBI, etc. Anything that the scammers could do to use my identifying information for unlawful purposes. I have also engaged Norton to reinstall my Norton Security and flag any EProtectionz programs that they could identify and uninstall if they appeared on my computer.
Please do not allow yourself to fall into the same trap my husband did. This is costly and time consuming not to mention the mental stress.
