Gateway Ripoff Computers Strikes Again. Caught in their little trap

I wish I had seen these reports 2 years ago. After contactng Gateway on the phone to purchase a computer for my daughter I decided on a particular type and price. I to was told that at a certain amount per month the total of $999 /- would be paid off in two years as it was featured on television advertising. After the computer showed up I, unsolicited by me, recieved a Gateway Revolving charge card at the enormous rate of 29.99%. I immediately contacted gateway/HRS to find out what was going on and was told that this was indeed the procedure.

I disagreed and tried to return the merchandise but could not get a RGA#. So we are stuck with a piece of junk that even Gateway cannot make adequate repairs on much less that I have been paying on it for over two years now and I still owe as much as what I paid for it to begin with.

This company and its financing practices need to be investigated by the Federal Trade Commission since they obviously deal in interstate and international trade. Gateway is a complete and total consumer rip-off and needs to be exposed and should have to make restitution to all of us that got caught in their little trap.
