Steven Scott is a sole trader trading under the name of Gladstone Asbestos Removalist (Gladstone QLD Australia). He has now lost his licence because of his shonky work. He has contaminated our home with asbestos and exposed myself, my husband and our (now) 16 month old daughter - for 6 months now. He demanded upfront payment to remove asbestos from our garage and patio and also to resheet the whole area. He tried just not turning up to do the work, but eventually after MANY phone calls, text messages and emails he sent a couple of inexperienced kids to do the work. They simply ripped the asbestos sheets off the building frame without removing any bolts/nails etc. The result was both clumps and shavings of asbestos contaminating our whole garage and patio. He didn't even pay these kids who obviously didn't know what they were doing and have no doubt been exposed to this hazardous asbestos themselves. There is no record of him disposing of the asbestos legally either - no doubt its been dumped out bush. Workplace Health and Safety QLD have fined him and ordered him to fix the job. This was ignored. The Office of Fair Trading tried to contact him and he ignored them also. The Mediation and Dispute Resolution Centre also tried to contact him - ignored. He didn't turn up to court as summonsed. He lost that court case but it will be a battle still to get the money as we need to find him. I believe we WILL find him but that will take time. We still have a number of asbestos sheets that need to be removed and non of the resheeting was done which means we have live powerpoints dangling from their wires with nowhere to fix them.
