I also received a letter stating i had won 80,000 and there was a check for 2249.70 enclosed and a message stating the check would be activated once i called the number on the letter. I call wells fargo bank and they would not verify anything so i called the company which was ameri-co, which is not affiliated with readers digest. They are a long haul trucking company and advised of the check written on their account. I gave the persons name and number on the letter to the company. People beware of this scam. The guy was very convincing, however my nephew had something similiar happen to him and his wife and they even turned it in to the fbi and they were charged for cashing the check which was thier instructions and they sent part of the money back as instructed for tax purposes to an address that was given to them. My poor niece was put on probation for this and had to pay a hefty fine. I did a little more research due to this and i am here to tell you now. When you win something, you dont have to pay for shipping charges up front, you dont receive mail like this. You dont pay a processing fee unless it is disclosed in the contest rules. Be careful people. You can get into a lot of trouble for doing this.
