I recieved a letter from "Readers Digest" stating that I'd won $225,000.00. Surpisingly no red flags went off because I had ordered Readers Digest for Kids, so I thought, "WoW", things are looking up for us. The letter included a special code and a check for $3,500.00. I excitedly called the number given and talked to a lady, who by the way reassured me it wasn't a scam, I had to give her the special code to access my file, she explained to me what I was to do with the check, I was to deposit the check and send them between $800-$1500 to insure the letter, the rest I could keep. Thankfully the bank put a hold on the check (the check looked legitimate, with a Bank of America stamp on it), so I couldn't send them anything. I found out after reading complaints on this site that it was a scam. If anyone recieves a letter like this with a check throw it away. I found out that real sweepstake prizes are hand delivered..
