Miscellaneous

A letter from Montreal, QC stated that I had won $100,000, and enclosed a check for $1291.60, but it stated that I could not cash the check without calling the phone number on the check. The check supposedly represents a "processing fee" required by "the North American Law" which must be paid before the $100,000 would be released.

I called the number and was connected with the signer of the letter, Peter Lucas, except he called himself Jeremy Lucas. He explained that FedEx would bring a check for $100,000 to my house, less the value of the check which was enclosed.

I presume that if I deposited the check, it would either bounce, or the information about my bank account which would appear on the back of the check would let the group siphon money from my account.

This certainly is a scam and people should be warned.

Sincerely,

A disappointed "winner"
