Why a Door tag when we were HOME

FEDEX came to deliver a package today with 3 people in the house there was NO knock, NO doorbell ring but there was a door tag left saying noone was home!!! NOW I have to reschedule things to pick up my package a city away from my house if I ever want to see my package. I called for help and was told that the truck was called and would try to get the package to my house. I doubt it, I have not heard from any one in customer service. I am so upset, WTF? I guess the little guy does not count with FEDEX. The number I called was 1 800 463-3339 Stratford CT
