Miscellaneous

On or about february 17 i received a call from a man saying i had won $5,000 in a sweepstakes. After conversing withme about 10 minutes, he asked if i had a credit card. I told him yes, and he put a woman on who asked what i was going to do with my winnings. I said i didn't know. She asked if it had a credit card and unfortunately i gave her the number. She then told me she would get me a great deal on magazines and i would get five years of magazines for only $97.17 per month. I told her i did not want any magazines and i could not afford $97.17 a month because my only income was social security. After i hung up, i tried to reach her but could not. My credit card company then billed me 97.17 for february and march plus interest. I protested and asked them to remove the charges as this was a scam. To date they have not done so. The card company was advised by telephone and letter that the charges were a scam. The man i spoke to at the card company told me to change my account number so i told him to cancel the account and issue me a new number. When i got my next credit card statement the amounts had been carried over and the company is still trying to collect this from me although i have cancelledmy account.
