Military Discount Refused for Veteran With Under 20 Years

Since Home Depot opened in the Roseburg, Oregon area, I have been a shopper there. Their military discount, given to every service member irrespective of years served, helped me choose them over Lowes or similar stores. April 26th, for instance, I got the discount on a purchase of several plants. When I bought more plants on May 03, the discount was suddenly denied.

A clerk explained that only those who retired from the military after 20 years or longer qualified, and when I phoned the assistant manager, he said the same. My own service was 6 years in the Air Force, out of a wish to contribute to my country, and later I retired from California law enforcement because of a disability connected to the job. Both careers brought thanks for my service, and I assumed Home Depot was showing its appreciation as well, with a discount offered to anyone who had been in the military. Veterans living on fixed incomes get real help from it, and it earned my loyalty, up to the moment when I, like many others, was turned down.
