W.C. French Real Estate Tax Scam - Beware

This is a Real Estate property tax scam where the law firm W. C French identifies targets from public rental property listing sites. They got my "info" from a for-rent posting on Backpage.com, but I am sure they could do the same scam from information gleaned from any public rental posting.

What they do is claim that they are representing a firm that accidentaly (?) paid your property tax in a previous year, and they are filing suit to get the money back that was paid on your behalf. They are willing to send you over some paperwork that looks fairly official, showing the tax year in question, and the amounts paid. Then they provide a form for you to either send them a check or give them your credit card information to avoid a law suit.

Fortunately for me the forms they sent contained some obvious glaring errors, so I was not fooled into beliving them, but they are very high pressure / persistent in thier approach to getting you to pay your "debt."

This company is no stranger to usacomplaints.com or to the BBB complaints line, but this seemed to be a new scam they were pulling and I wanted to give everyone a "heads up."
