Thomas Kalcas Destroyed my mail after my departure (including checks) and when I asked about this he responded, "F& Y&"

I was a tenant at 1865 Broad St for 9 months with my very young son living with me. When I asked hom to please re-paint a door that had serious flaking lead paint, he laughed at me and told me that he was a lead inspector. I knew that was a lie as I'd met them all. I was then on the Board of Directors of the Childhood Lead Action Project. He became verbally abusive when I insisted, but it did get done. (My son had already been lead poisoned).

After a time, I saw a man briefly but he turned out to be what I thought to be dangerous and although I told him that I didn't want to see him, he became abusive, showing up at all hours, etc. I ended up going to the police and to a safe house temporarily.

A Cranston detective told me that at that point, I had no choice but to leave. I told Thomas that I was leaving but that I could not give him a forwarding address on the advice of the detective. Because I was breaking my lease, Thomas had the legal right to keep mu deposit, which he did. I left the place spotless. Later when I asked him to send my mail to a certain location, he admitted that he destroyed it and when I asked him why he would do such a thing, he resonded by yelling, "F& Y—"! I never did recover the check.
