Online sales means cancelled orders

Kohl's recently had a post valentines day sale on men's pajama pants, buy one get one free. I order two that were part of the special and I also had a coupon for 20% off my order. The coupon gave me a discount of $4.80 meaning that the %5.95 shipping was basically covered.

After several days, I get am email from Kohls alerting me that they are canceling one of the pajama pants from my order. Since I have a smart phone, I immediately replied to this email stating that I wanted to replace the canceled item with a comparable one, or cancel the whole order (because it is not worth shipping one item at that cost and I only purchased the items because of the deal). After sending my immediate reply, I noticed they had already sent me a message saying the order has already shipped! This is within moments of the first notification email!

The reply I eventually got back from Kohls is that it is not their policy to replace a canceled item with another one if a customer requests it. Nor can they cancel my order because it shipped already. If I want to return it I can ship it back or bring it to a store (both of which will make me lose the shipping I paid).

So I just want to warn people that apparently Kohls can canceled something you have ordered online, and they will ship it seconds after telling you they canceled part it. They give you NO option to modify your order, and they give you NO time to cancel the whole order. If you are buying something online that is a special sale, beware! These are the items most likely to be canceled.

Finally, because of the canceled item, I ended up paying that shipping to ship one item, not worth it in my opinion. I have been a long time customer of Kohls, but their customer service is nonsensical and I will now opt to shop in stores that give you the option of discontinuing or modifying your order if it is canceled.
