Ripoff dishonest fraudulent rental company with defected rental units and retalitory actions by landlord when filing complaints to State agencies

Miscellaneous

One month into lease agreement we began to experience plumbing problems with backwash of dirty laundry water into the kitchen sink. This issue was immediately report to the Management office and as of December 1 the issue remains unresolved in rental unit.

Various plumbers performed different techniques to give correction for short time period. Management staff gave numerous reasons for unsuccessful solutions to solving problem.
Our rental unit was the only unit on property (over 300 units) with unique problem.

Unresolved plumbing issue lead to other problems (mold - everyone had allergy and stomach problems; wet wood damage to kitchen walls, cabinet and floors; ants, roaches and rodents all causing unsafe, unsanitary and unhealthy living conditions.

This unhealthy environment halted our enjoyment of rental unit with very limited use of kitchen; invasion of privacy due to repair work and hundreds of dollars in frozen food, cleaning supplies, and mold testing.

Response from Regional and Property Management have been the following:

Unsuccessful repair work to pipes in unit.
Verbal and written agreements not kept by company.
Offer of a new application for remodeled unit within community.

Upon contacting local, county and state officials a case was filed in the Landlord & Tenant Court of Maryland. The rental payments were placed in rent escrow. The company stated to us that they would have to transfer us to repair problem and offered to relocate us at company expense to another unit. The local, county and court officials was also given the notice of transfer to another unit to avoid the citations. An agreement was reached by us to accept transfer with the release of rent escrow to company.

The offer to transfer was withdrawn by company. The company was asked about any known problems with transfer unit and it was flatly denied by their attorney. The offer rental unit was unhealthy, unsanitary and unclean during inspection by our family and management staff.

The agreement reached in court has not been kept by company nor has company addressed any settlement with handling the initial problem, the thousands of dollars collected for rental payments with limited use of kitchen; invasions of privacy and lack of enjoyment as outlined in lease. The hundreds of dollars spent with court costs, lawyers fees, testing fees, and cost for all the other inconvenience suffered by my family due to this defected rental unit.instead the company is retalitory measures such as harrassment, threats and imtimidating actions as a result of complaints filed with local, county and state officials is insisting we continue to pay the regular rental payment for defected unit or trying to force us to vacate premises after receiving thousands of our hard earn dollars.
