I moved to the THICKET in 6/03 after having moved away in 1992.initially the apartment plan that I requested became unavailable for some reason and I agreed to a comporable one. I was repeatedly asked for more money. I paid 3 months in advance to move in. Nov. Of 2003 I came home to find a hot pink note in bold black font taped to my door by Juliette, the leasing agent for late rent.

I took my receipts and went to the office. She was suppose to follow up on the account and she did not. Another manager did in 3/04. It was discovered that my money had been applied to someone's account that was dating the property manager!

I discussed transferring into my requested unit and the manager told me that I could with no transfer fee and half off the first month's rent if I signed a new lease. He informed Juliette and I know that he did. At the end of the lease, I became a Tenant at Will and awaited transfer to my new unit.

Juliette told me that my unit was ready because she needed the current unit that I had. She called on 8/21, I was to move on 9/1. Not only did she trick me out of a good unit, she moved me into a building that was known to be infested with rats, roaches and leaks. The unit was also being used as a playhouse for 2 months by the kids in the complex. Wires were hanging out of the walls, the phone did not work for over a week, the kitchen was horrible and the unit had not been cleaned. Dead flies and roaches covered the floor. Condensation stays in the windows of my 1st bedroom and mice are living in the walls.

It took them 18 days to repair or should I say bandaid the problem and in addition to this, I had property stolen under lock and key and Juliette came in and out of my unit as she pleased according to my neighbors. They returned my rent and she filed a disposessory saying I didn't pay rent and called me back to ask me to bring the check back after the District Manager Leanne left my check in the apartment.

My neighbors and I have caught over 50 mice in 25 days and we have complained and complained. I filed a counter suit in court. We have mold and mildew that we are cleaning from walls and windows. We were told by the office to get spray bottles with clorox to clean the mold and mildew.

Peopled have broken leases, moved in the night and all things because management has taken lightly all of the complaints. I contacted the Tenants Association and started filing papers. I keep and have witnesses and statements about what has and is happening. The comples is in breach of contract but they are trying to make it seem as though the upkeep and repairs of the building is our responsibility.
