Griffith Oil Company
Federal Tax break promised for efficient Air Conditioner Install

Miscellaneous

My central air conditioner condensor coil pan began to leak condensate and Griffith Oil Co sent the regular technician who maintains the oil furnace each year. He said I should have a complete unit installed instead of attempting to replace the condensor condensate pan. He said I would be entitled to a Federal Tax Refund amounting to 30 Per Cent of the install cost. A salesman then came the next day and setup an install of a Trane XR15 outside unit and complete inside unit consisting of a new coil and pan along with condensate plumbing to a condensate pump. The total cost was $4224 and he said I could get a tax break since the Trane XR15 is very efficient. Griffith oil now tells me I would have had to have the entire system replaced including my very effient oil burner and blower fan to receive that tax break. I figured I would receive perhaps $250 to $300 back on my taxes which would buy a tank of oil this winter. After they told me on the phone that I am not entitled to the tax break, I began looking around for another oil company which is closer such as Carroll BP just a couple of miles away who also do plumbing etc. If needed.By the way, I paid off the $4224 in less than 5 months to close my account.
