Warranty and Recall - HP notebook

My laptop went out during the begining session of my online classes. The part that caused the crash is on recall by the company. I had to purchase another laptop do to the fact that my classes were online and required login several times a week. When i did get around to call about the problem i was told that my warranty was out and i had to pay almost an amount for a new one. If a recall is issued what does it matter that the warranty is out.By the time you make all the different phone calls the time is later and later and the problem never gets solved. I would never recommend this product for students who rely on a strong product.
