Shoddy repair kenmore

On January 7, we purchased a KENMORE stackable washer-dryer for our condo which was rented to our son and his wife. At the time, we were told we would get a rebate of 10%. When we never received it we sent in the receipt at the request of your customer service department, but then were told they did not have a record of the transaction. They told us this repeatedly, despite the fact that we presented the receipt. It became clear that you had no intention of providing us the rebate.

In June the washer broke down and was repaired by Sears. This last week, the washer AND dryer broke down AGAIN. We scheduled a repair on 12/26 and were told the repair man would be on premises between 1-5 pm. At 4pm, my wife called and they said the repair man would call us. At 5:00pm after not having received a call, my wife called again. They told us AGAIN that the repair man would call. At 6:00 we called again and were told they had NO record of our previous calls and that the repair office was closed and they couldn't get hold of the repair man. The “customer service” clerk clearly was not interested in helping us whatsoever.

The consequence of all this is that our son and his wife and a one-year old child have no washer/dryer to use. Apparently, we have no recourse and our 1 year warranty will expire in about two weeks. We intend to contact an attorney to seek remedy IF we don’t receive a positive reply from Sears as a result of this letter. Not only have you cheated us out of the rebate, but you have sold us a faulty product. At this time and unless we receive a positive reply from you, we do not intend buying anything more from Sears. It is too bad, because we have been staunch Sears buyers for years as has our family.
