Blind Cutting Machines Broken for Months at Two Stores

Miscellaneous

Back in January I headed to Home Depot to buy a new blind for my window. I got there, and they told me that the machine to cut the blind did not work. I went back a month later to try to purchase the blind once again, and they told me the machine was not working. I asked one of the workers why it had not been fixed, and they told me that it had not been working for months. I asked if another Home Depot would have a machine to cut the window blind I needed, and they responded that they were the only Home Depot with a functioning machine. How could this be? We are talking about a Home Depot. So once again I left without a window blind. I went back about once a month after that, only to hear the same thing.

This Wednesday, May 26th, I decided to try to get the blind. First of all, there is never any help in the aisles. Where are all the workers? Finally someone appeared. There was a person ahead of me who ordered about 6 blinds that needed to be cut, and she cut them, luckily for them, because the machine used for their blinds worked. I asked the employee if the machine for the type of blind that I needed to cut was working. She said yes, so I waited and waited patiently for my turn. She got to me and used the machine on the blind I needed, and it cut the blind with a rough edge and broke a piece of the top. At this point it was obvious that the machine was still not fixed and she was not aware of it.

I decided to purchase the blind because I was desperate and needed a blind for my window. Mind you, it had been at least 4 months that I had been trying to get a blind. I paid full price, $50 something, not cheap! I got home to hang up the blind, and she had cut it wrong. She left a whole inch, and it did not fit my window. So I returned it.

When I went back to the blind department, there was a man working there, and as soon as he saw my blind he said that the machine was not working for the type of blind I had. I explained to him that I had just purchased it that day and the woman was not aware of it not working. I returned the blind and spoke to the manager. His name was Joe, at the Home Depot located in Yonkers, NY. I explained my whole situation, and he was not even aware that the machine was not working. What kind of business is being run here? I was very inconvenienced by this.

I then left and headed to the Home Depot in New Rochelle, NY, and it was the same thing there. The lady said that the machine was not working because the blade was not good. The Home Depot in New Rochelle at least had a paper across the blinds stating that they were unable to cut those types of blinds. So, 2 Home Depots, and both machines are not working. I think that is unacceptable.

Also, something needs to be done about the type of help offered at Home Depot. There is never anyone in the departments, and if you see anyone and ask them for help, they say they do not belong in that department. So they have to get on the intercom and call for someone. Where are they if they are not in their department? There should always be at least one person in the aisle of the department they belong to. This is unacceptable. What kind of business is being run here?
