Insured lab equipment arrived crushed, packaging blamed

I shipped lab equipment with FedEx in early June. It was being sent for consignment, and it was insured for $6000. It was packaged and shipped with a reputable company and clearly marked fragile and "this end up." The box arrived crushed right on the corner that said "this end up." FedEx first said the package was not damaged. Then they blamed the packaging. It was packed appropriately by a former "IT" person.

FedEx made promises about sending someone out from a third party to look at the equipment. Nobody ever showed. The shipper has contacted the CEO on my behalf as well as on behalf of his company's reputation. I am now out a piece of equipment that I cannot sell, and I am unable to buy another refurbished piece of lab equipment that I need in my office.
