Damaged equipment - shipping an insured package with fedex

I shipped lab equipment with fedex in early june. It was being sent for consignment and it was insured for $6000. It was packaged a shipped with a reputable company and clearly marked fragile and "this end up". The box arrived crushed right on the corner that said "this end up". Fedex first said the package was not damaged. Then blamed the packaging. It was packed appropriately by a former "it" person.
Fedex has made promises about sending someone out from a 3rd party to look at the equipment. Nobody ever showed. The shipper has contacted the ceo on my behalf as well as on the behalf of his company's reputation. I am now out a piece of equipment that i cannot sell and i am unable to buy another refurbished lab equipment that i need in my office.
