Billing for cancelled subscriptions for past year Multiple contacts made, ltrs. Sent, no action taken

This company refuses to cancel subscriptions after multiple attemps via phone, letter, registerd mail. Making phone calls to collect "past due amounts" which were never agreed to either via phone of letter. The letters ent to collect look like a child typed them on a typewriter. Anyone having problems with this "company"?
