The Car Medic
Uneeded car repairs

Miscellaneous

My 74 year old mother took her car in for a $14.95 oil change. They told her she needed to get her wheel bearings replaced and that the car wasn't safe to drive as-is. To prove this to her they wiggled the tire. My mom said she could barely see the tire move, if at all, but was scared because they were telling her it wasn't safe to drive. They wanted $332.20 for the repair.

She called me at work and I had her leave. She was afraid to drive it after they'd told her how unsafe it was, but I was able to talk her into leaving.

The next day I had her take her car to a repair shop where I've had work done before. They have a reputation for being honest. She had them look at the wheel bearing and they told her the bearings are fine. There's a slight amount of wear, but nothing to worry about and certainly nothing they would suggest repairing any time soon. If she did want to replace it anyway, the cost would be $220.00

Looks to me like Car Medic is just another untrustworthy repair center. Shame on them for praying on little old ladies (no offense Mom).
