Used parts that were old in a supposedily newly built computer-the harddrive was out of warranty a year before purchase of system

I purchase a custome built computer in imagine my dismay to find out that in 2010 (yes out of warrenty) the parts that were used - ok - rerfurbished - were 1) hard drive - not for the system installed and out of warranty in 2) the other part Dell item - was new in other parts used in the computer - ok, I know what refurbished means - but come on - 4 years old or 1 year out of warranty at the time of my purchase? And I would have never known if I hadn't called Dell in the first place to investigate why it was acting so strange - they were going to charge me $175 for a reinstall - and that wouldn't include all the software they originally put on it - which I hadn't even recieved any program disks at time of purchase - but also didn't know any better at the time.
