Spirit Airlines
Sky Miles False Advertisement

Miscellaneous

On Jan 9 I was contact by Spirit Airlines via email that I had 5,536 sky miles that needed to be redeemed by 2/1. On 1/24 I contacted the airlines in hopes of getting a free one way ticket. Needless to say the customer service rep told me I couldn't redeem my miles because I needed 10,000 miles. I explained to her that I received an email and it clearly states on their website on their FAQ page that "mileage redemption start at just 5,000 miles, lower than any U.S. Carrier". Still she insisted I needed 10,000 points to qualify for a one way ticket. I looked on the "Redeeming Miles" page of their website, scrolled to "Awards" and then chose "click here" under "All About Redeeming Rewards". I noticed the off peak, peak, standard, and premium calendar. I scrolled to every month in 2010 to see which flights made me eligible but there were no flights to redeem my 5,536 mileage points. Every month I needed 10,000 or more points. This clearly says to me that Spirit Airlines is operating under false advertisement. I have saved portions of their FAQ and my email for references. They will be available to you upon your request. Thank you.
