Portfolio Recovery Associates keeps calling my home and lying about why they are calling

For months now, I have been receiving alarming phone calls from a company called Portfolio Recovery Associates. The caller states that they are not calling from a collection agency and that it is vital that they speak to my son. My son is a grown man and has not lived in my home for many years. The company has verified they have his phone number, but claim he does not respond to them so they are calling his mother for help. Of course, I did not provide any information and asked a few questions. The caller became aggitated, extreamly rude, and insulted that I was asking questions when this was an urgent matter. I asked the nature of the matter and was told that it was not an attempt to collect a debt but rather it might have something to do with recent medical treatment.By the nature of the caller's attitude, I knew this to be a lie so I requested that they not contact my home referencing another individual. To my surprise, the calls kept comming - every week. Most calls I was able to ingnore, some I just hung up. Today, I received another call, and this time, the caller - Christine - indicated that it was urgent that they speak with my son regarding a personal matter. I again requested that they contact him directly. Christine immediately started to raise her voice and demand that I do something about getting in contact with my son to resolve this matter. I said, "What matter." Today the story is that they need to contact my son regarding an important police matter. I told them again not to call and to remove my number from their data base. I have had it with this group of compulsive liars. I have had their numbers blocked from my telephone - the ones I know at least and will continue to block whatever number they call from in the future.By the way, I called the company headquarters to voice a complaint as indicated on their web site. The complaint taker started yelling at me and told me that the my number is no in their data base and that I must be confused. Is there any legal action I can take regarding the alarming lies they tell? Where is the state of Virginia in all this?
