Collection on a credit card never opened by my fathe

Eight years ago, Capital One attempted to collect on a credit card debt for a card opened in my 80 year old father's name. We disputed the account, asked for documentation that the account was applied for by my father and never heard back from the company. A year ago, I moved to New Jersey and have begun receiving debt collection calls from Portfolio Recovery Associates for a capital one credit card listed in my father's name. Twice I have indicated to them that the card was not requested by my father; and they are not to continue to call and harass me for a debt we do not owe. The first caller indicated the card was issued to my brother. The caller today indicated the card was issued to my father. Apparently they thought they were on to a new lead and a new idiot that they could harass in order to obtain payment for a fraudulent charge.

I was told again today that they would remove my name and not call again. However, they did ask that I call my father and give him their number so they could collect the debt even after I told them there was no way a credit card had been opened in his name unless it was fraudulent identity theft.
