BidFuel - AuctionMentor
E-bay free dell computer winner with ebay offer of $1.97 s&h with auction mentor rip off @ $39.95/mo billed to my account

Miscellaneous

I answered a free computer offer with a request to submit two offers from a list of companys. I selected to receive a free ebay CD with shipping & handling cost of $1.97. I received my bank statement with a $39.95 charge from Auctionmentor.

I had received a call from a telemarketer to setup a ebay mentor session for monday 9/14/09 @4P.M., but was not available to take the call. When I called the number listed on my bank statement for the 39.95 charge, for 'Auctionmen'; was the only time I had heard of the 'Auctionmentor' company name. The service rep #022 advised me that I should have read the confirmation e-mail supposedly sent that gives you 14 days to cancel the promotion they offer when you request the e-bay cd. I can't find a copy of the e-mail they sent nor did I ever receive the cd I originally ordered'.

I am reporting this information to my bank today as a fraudulant activity. Auctionmentor agreed to send me the CD again but refused to refund the $39.95 fee because I did not cancel the 8/12/09 'order' in the 14 day period they specified in the 'confirmation' they never sent me. They have no proof of shipping me the CD I ordered nor the confirmation of the plan I supposedly agreed to @ 39.95/mo. They did agree to cancel further monthly charges and refund the $1.97 s/h charge for the CD I never received. What gracious vendors the are! I hope The E-bay rep that follows up will not be surprised that I have no intentions of dealing with them, Auctionmentors or even Dell computers for the free computer I never received.

I am not inexperienced with internet fraud, and would not normally be caught in this situation. I just happen to be looking for a computer for my son for college and thought I would check out the free offer. This just verifies the saying that 'nothing is free'! I hope this experience will save some other people the trouble of this scam. If they were able to get me, they are scamming alot of other people. Check your bank statements often, there are many scams out there like this one.
