This is not a condemnation of ALL Nursing Homes or Assisted Living facilities...

When our mother was released from the hospital in February, my sister scoured the country side for an assisted living facility, so she would have freedom of movement, but also help when she needed it.

New Hope sold a good bill of goods to us re: the care given, the staff, the meals, etc, etc etc.
Once we got her in there, all they could do was complain about all the EXTRA help that was needed. They wanted us to hire a full time nurse, in addition to the two grand we were paying them.

We moved grandma's recliner into her room, so she could be more comfortable. The wonderful caregivers would put her in the chair, then raise the foot-stool so she couldn't get out.

We had to supply everything that they could think of.
We supplied the Ensure, the medication, and a good portion of the care.

The laundry was pilled in the closet, and we took it out of there to do, when we moved her out of this lovely facility and into a wonderful nursing home, closer to my sisters home.

We later discovered that grandma's incontinence was caused by the daily laxatives that were given to her, and NOT her physical condition. With twelve residents in this facility (eleven) of them women, you would think that they would maintain a female attendant on duty, instead of a young college gentleman.

Although there may not be anything illegal about this type of scam, they sure don't have a lot of ethics in the operation of the business. The women who runs it has absolutely no business working with the public in such a sensitive area as elderly family. Her mood swings could be timed with a pendilum.

When it's time for you to investigate a facility such as New Hope, do your home work... Talk to the residents family, to see what goes on. Check them out thoroughly... Even to the extent of contacting the doctors and hospitals.
