Screw-You Contract

Pure Fitness engages in outright screwing their members with a very under-handed, back-door method of renewal charges that will bite you in the butt at the end of your contract by automatically renewing you on a month-to-month basis along with late charges which in my cases amounted to 30.58/month.

They do NOT call you to ask you if you are a happy member and would like to renew. NOR do they remind you that you about to go into auto-renew (note in my case this is 2 years from my initial signing&who would remember???) and try to solicit your new membership by providing some level of customer service or care.
No - they simply let you go into auto-renew charge mode, then you receive a notice for ABC Financial telling you that you owe "X" amount and this cycle continues until you call and argue with them.

In addition, my situation was exacerbated because I had not been able to use 1 year of my 2 year membership because I was diagnosed with a severe form of cancer. I requested a procedure to reimburse the second year during which I was physically unable to use my membership at which time CARLA WEIGHTMAN hung up the phone on me. I was not being rude or unprofessional at all - in fact I was very nice to her, all things considered. And she simply hung up on me when I asked what I could do to pursue reimbursement for that un-used year.

I want to warn any potential customers to be aware that this operation is scamming members to the tune of $50 to $100 or more with their sneaky auto-renewal/late fee scheme and to also let you know that they are hiring rude, unprofessional people to manage the obviously overwhelming complaints they are receiving. CARLA WEIGHTMAN at the Chandler/Alma School location is obviously one pissed-off woman. She had an attitude from the moment I was connected with her and now I fully understand why. I am sure she is receiving a burgeoning number of member complaints however my suggestion is to treat members respectfully and perhaps the complaints can be minimized.

With the current policies, I suspect PURE FITNESS will be out of business soon and I am more that happy to alert unsuspecting potential new members to STEER CLEAR of this sorry excuse of a fitness center.

This practice may be (and should be) illegal but in any case is it certainly unethical and completely unacceptable for paying members to be treated as a bother rather than even a future revenue stream. These people are too dumb to even see that!

Do not join this club and DO NOT SIGN their stinkin' contract. They are in the are rip-off artists.
