Extra $16 Monthly for HD Football Already Broadcast in HD

I have been a DirecTV subscriber for more than a decade, mostly because of their monopoly on the NFL Sunday Ticket. Last year I purchased the HD receiver and found that the games were not in HD, so I called and asked why. After talking to the rep, I was given access to HD football games.

For this year, I'm told that in order to enjoy the games in HD I would have to pay an additional $16 per month. I already pay $6 per month for the HD receiver and $10 per month for the HD access fee. That's a total of $32 per month for HD.

My question to the rep this time was why I am being charged for something that should be standard. CBS and Fox Sports broadcast in HD! If the local channels are already in HD, then why would I pay extra for Superfan? Then she went on to explain all the bells and whistles. I don't care for RedZone mix and 8 games at once. I want to watch the channels in HD, and I shouldn't have to pay extra for what is already broadcast in HD.
