Trying to scare people/scared me

I was on my break at work and my phone rang with a 914 area code i did not reconize, i picked up and a man with a strong Indian accent starting talking, it was so loud and noisy i told him to call back. I went back to work and he called back and left a msg. Saying his name is Paul Smith and it was a time sensitive matter that i had to call back and do not ignore this msg.

I called back and now his name was Andrew Brown. He proceeded to tell me i had a outstanding internet payday loan since 1 I told him i do not know of this and i want proof of something. He said i owed 1,952.00 becasue of 319% interest per year. And i had to pay it or i will be charged with chk freaud/and all kinds of other charges i do not remember.

I told him i have been unemployed for 3 mnths and have been on a new job for 2 weeks and do not have that kind of money, he said i could pay 592.00 by monday and charges would be dropped. He had me so scared that i stupidly gave my atm debit#. He said if i did not do this the crimal investogators would come to my house Monday morning and take me away for 6 mnths and pay a 5000.00 fee.

I was so upset the rest of the day i could not sleep. I then contacted a atty. The next day and he said they can not do that and you have the right to recieve all documentation to sustain these charge. This man also had my email acct, my checking acct # the next day at the advice of my bank and atty. I cancelled my debit card. This Indian man also wanted me to write and fax 2 letters to him with one hr. Of a apology letter to Amercain Credit services and a letter stating that i would pay 2 pymts of 592.00 Thank God i was smart enough to not do that.

I called this Andrew back on Friday and told him my atty. Will be contacting him. This is so awful these people need to be stopped. Think of elderly people who might get this call, im young and it upset me... If anyone has more info please let me know i still feel nervous about this
