I have been a card holder with american Express since 2005. AT the time of my application, I had some derogatory remarks on my crdit report from Collection agencies representing a Hospital.
Since issuing the card to me, I have never been late, nor missed any payments. Balance was paid in full before due date.
On June 12, A/E cancelled my account, on inquiring with the call center, I was told the action was taken becasue of current negative reporting by my lender..
I investigated teh issue from y lender and they rectified teh incorret reportin to the Credit Bureaus. I applied for reinstatementbased on information provided by A/E staff. Then I got a note stating that my card cannot be reinstated. I asked for information as to why, no response was received. Till date I do not have a notice of cancellation.
On july 20, I made a new application for a credit card and within a few minutes I was told by the analyst that my applicatio was rejected and she could not tell me why but I would get a letter. I checked my email and found a letter explaining why my application was rejected. It stated based on finding frm Equifax, in the last two years I had too many charge offs and collections in the last twoo years.
I pulled my credit repor from Equifax at midnight and found only one negative item. There was not a single chargeoofs or collection account in last 4 years.
So the rejection of my application based on reorting from your instituation is a violation of my Fair Credit Reporting Act. I reported this incident to FTC who has taken my complaint. They also asked me to contact my State Attoreny General's office. I
I had a convsersation this morning with Greg Teter Manager of your Credit RLA and explained to him my situation including statement to the fact that my income has incresed by 30% since my original application and my debts have gone down by at least 15%.
I also told him that I felt I was being singled out and my application was hence being rejected.
A courtesy of a response and reinstatement consideration would be greatly appreciated. My credit b vard number ends with 391006.
Sincerely
