My family are at a loss at the present time. My grandmother was a resident on this facility for the past two years (12/26). She will be laid to rest on February 9 because she had a bed sore which for some reason was not medically/properly taken care of. The family was not notified of these bed sores but by the same token, the sore should not look like it does. My grandmother's sore was infected and the size of a football when she was taken to the funeral home. The funeral director was gracious enough to let us come and take pictures of the wound. Due to the severity of the wound, my family and I have to wait to have services which is taking a toll on our lives. Not only are we greiving for the loss of a very close family member but now we have to deal with the fact that she was in a lot of pain and no one from the facility cared enough to take care of it. We trusted this facility because it was close to our homes and because these facilities are suppose to take care of and notify families of any problems. I'm sure this facility knew my grandmother was having problems because there was a body odor therefore the infection had settled into her blood stream as well. No one needs to be mistreated in a facility that the family chose to have taken care of loved one. This facility was chosen because it has the staff and materials to properly care for our family. There is another incident with this facility and my grandmother where a phone call was made to the family that stated she was in a coma. My grandmother did not receive any medical assistance. She was not transported to a hospital or even seen by a doctor. She was just left in her bed where the staff says "she is just comfortable". Can anyone please explain to me why futher medical assistance was not sought out. She would probably lhad lived longer if given proper assistance from this facility. She wasn't able to speak but if she was properly cared for she would not have ended up with bedsores the size of a football or an infection in her blood stream.

I will be approaching the facility for answers to why my grandmother was not properly taken care of. Could you please look into this and let my family know of your findings?
