Charged 185 Dollars After Closing Account With No Statements

My wife went and closed out our account on that Tuesday. When she asked if anything more was needed, the lady told her it was good. For 2 months we received no statement. On the last day of December, we got a bill for 185 dollars for 2 checks that were just 13 dollars. There was no decent explanation, just that it was our fault. We have been everywhere, and nobody can help. I would pay the 13 dollars back, but I do not think it is fair when we have gotten nowhere.
