So we used to have directTV, one day we where thinking of switching to cablevision because we were sick of the rainstorm loss of service with the satellite service. So we call them at customer service, explain the plan to the rep. Quickly they offer like 45 bucks off the next month service to keep us in the fold
Well 2 months later we call again, same story and same discount. Pretty good we think. So we wait another 2 months and try again and the rep says you have had 2 discounts in 4 months is maximum, please call next month and we will be happy to do it again. Be friendly to them as they are people also
The nice person explained that they are allowed to give discount every 3 months, so just call and ask. DirectTV is a good honest company that helps
so finally no matter the discounts that rainstorm service blackout thing was really bugging me, when the clouds and rain really get thick the service just can't penetrate thru to the earth from low earth orbit satellite
so we switch service to cablevision. We get digital phone, hi speed internet and cable TV for 99.95 a month basic package, we also got some add on premium service for the TV channel lineup that is about $110 a month for all 3 services. A big savings over the old way of separate phone company, directTV and an internet service provider
now i reverse the story and tell cable i am thinking about going to directTV, now the cablevision company also cuts like 35 bucks off the bill every 3 months, as long as i call and ask
i have learned to call right before bed as there is no wait to talk to customer repersentiave, also early the morning is good
these companies are really nice and try to help the consumer, as long as you talk nice, be respectful and honest they will always cut the discount
now i even simply say, 3 months ago, you check the records cablevision gave me 35 bucks off, they also says at that time to call in 3 months and would do it again, well here i am calling
works every time, as long you are nice and wait the 3 months
that is $140 per year!
BTW, for all the other readers, take a hint, if you call direct TV and tell them your cancel for cable, they automatically give a large discount to "keep you as a customer
when i had direct TV for 10 years i would call every 3 months and ask directly for the discount, say something like, i received cablevisions new flyer in the mail, they are offering 3 months free, what will direct TV do to keep me?

now i play the same game with cablevision (yes i switched as i could not stand the rain storm black-outs with satellite TV) so now i get discounts from the cable company
you think large corporations have a similar reverse consumer complaints about scamming consumers?

I don't see how everyone here gets into so much trouble with companies; I have always had good experiences in my life with large corporate America, banks, credit card companies, car dealerships, food stores, contractors. I have never had any bad experience with anyone or anything. Everyone whines too much here
I have in the past been attacked by 2 or 3 large dogs; I can tell you that that did suck. Blood and pain
