Checking my credit report monthly

I recently checked my credit report. At the bottom I seen companies who have checked your credit report. I have been checked repeatadley by AMEX. Monthly. It didn't give a number but it gave an address which I looked up online and seen it is American Express. But the number come up as a land line thru Qwest. And the name it gives is Zyg Gorgol, manager of South Lobby Security. What in the world??? How can they do this over and over? How did they get my info to check my credit and how do I stop it? I do not have a American Express card but I do get mailings up to 2 times a week for over a year now. SO I am on the phone with them as I am typing this. They have never heard of this person and she is telling me she is a security agent. So she just transferred me to Rose. Rose has no idea why and I am now on hold for another person. She disconnected me. I am calling back. Now I am getting an automated message. I am on hold again. This is totally a joke, they are saying I need to call Financial Center West at a total different number. So I am calling now. This is a security line also and they can give me no information and they are sorry thwey are of no help. I am now going to American Express website to see what happens. I just called the 800 number and I am on hold again. They are connecting me and this call will be monitored. OK, I spoke to Dan and none of the numbers I have called match anything in his system, so he gave me the Credit Bureau Dept. Because they are the only ones who can help. I also will have to have my credit report in front of me when I call. I will add on any information I get after that call. I am totally disgusted and this should be illegal!!!
