Consumers lose free interest by mailing billing statement late

Applied for new credit card w/0% interest for 1st few months if paid on time. Bank of America waited to mail my 1st statement so I received it Sat. Aug. 23rd with due date of Sunday Aug. 24th!!!
Tried to pay online and they kept saying my credit card number didn't exist so took check to Bank of America 1st thing Monday August 25th.
Now have received statment with $39.00 late fee and an interest amount since 0% interest got cancelled because they mailed statment late. What a scam operation to get new customers!!
