Ryan, Lucas Power door-to-door magazine subscription rip-off, college kid saving for "trip"

Miscellaneous

A really personable college-aged kid came to our door selling magazines. At first we said "no thanks" until he asked to use our restroom. He seemed nice so we let him. Once he was in our house he started small talk with us and soon talked us into a magazine subscription.

He said he was trying to get "points" from selling magazines to earn a trip to Europe. I was also at the mall around the same time and was approached by another guy with the same story. Luckily, I declined to buy from him but it was the same exact song and dance the other guy gave me.

We wrote a check and lost $47 on the deal. He emphasized that it would be "a while" until we received the magazine. On the receipt he gave us it says you will receive your magazine in 120-160 days. That should have been a red flag. They probably figure by that time you would have forgotten all about it.

Tell everyone you know about this. What really pisses me off is that they are still getting away with this and ripping off innocent people. It's a true crime and they need to be stopped.
