Ripoff dishonest door to door magazine sales by college students

Miscellaneous

Two people came to my door saying they went to the University of South Carolina & were trying to sell magazines to earn money for their college education.

They were very persistent in trying to talk me into purchasing a magazine subscription. Since I was in a hurry I just ordered one to get rid of them. They continued to be persistent in trying to talk me into purchasing at least two so both of them would get credit. I told them no & that I had to go. They then wrote up for one magazine subscription.

* The thing that made me a little concerned after I got to my appointment was that they had me write my check out to "CASH" & said that way they would get credit quicker. They did give me a pink receipt with the information on it.*

I actually received two magazines that could have came from this order since I signed up for the gardening category, which would be a different gardening magazine for 12 months. I am not sure if I just happened to receive them or if it came from this order; however, I placed the order on 4/15/04 & I have only received the two magazines (It is now 2/21/05).
