Fifth Third Bank
So Unethical, They've Developed a "Policy" to Charge Overdraft Fees For Customers NOT OVERDRAWN! Why Did I Ever Bank Here?

I was never overdrawn, so shocked to find several overdraft fees ($33 ea) to my checking account. Assuming a mistake, I called the Marysville Ohio branch and am still reeling at the explanation. Fifth-Third admitted I was never overdrawn, but charged due to their "policy" allowing them to hold deposits for awhile, not crediting them right away. (Mine was a payroll check from Honda, the major employer in this area and laughable to think their check would bounce.) All I did "wrong" was deposit my payroll, afterward normally writing checks on my deposit. 5/3 charged me fees on every check I wrote until they decided my payroll check had "cleared" 2 days later.
They would not remove my charges, I did try.
I find this 5/3 policy so sleazy my skin crawls. I imagine a room of slippery, unethical lawyers, whose only job it inventing 5/3 policies to steal money from customers without going so far as to bring Federal charges of fraud.
I'm closing all 6 of my 5/3 accounts. My new bank is aware of many questionable 5/3 fee policies, and told me they are receiving more and more business as people leave 5/3 due to unethical practice.
