Ripping off yet another hard working educated mom

I had 8 items in the "hold" area over the weekend - all very small items that I actually purchased the previous Thursday, Friday... Etc...

I was to be paid on June 30th. I knew we were cutting it close - going unemployed, some house issues, and some unexpected medical bills - we live paycheck to paycheck like many people. But we still had over $200 in the account so I assumed everything from the weekend would come out Monday morning. No - that would be too easy... My boss by the way paid me a day late - I figured - OK we have one check out there for $250.00 so even if that goes through... I have a $35.00 fee I will have to swallow.

My husband calls me 7/1 and says "Do you know we have over $350.00 in overdrafts!!!" Now - I know I should have grown some balls and told my boss that I absolutely had to be paid on the 30th - but I didn't, and for that - yes...$35.00 But $350.00 is absurd and like for so many others, I am sure it is everything to you when that much money is taken out. I went to the Hyde Park Wachovia - swore I wouldn't cry - but was sobbing hysterically - all pride gone now by the way... They gave me $150 back - I'm sure just to get me out of the lobby.

But the more I thought about it - I said - no - that still is not enough - I want refunded everything but 35.00 of fees and I called 800 number - nice girl I have to say but she could not help me as that is how they do things - highest to smallest. She did give me the address of the President Lanty Smith and I will be writing him a letter, with a picture of me and my family so he has a face to go with the names of the people he is taking money from. I can't imagine how much they have made in fees but I would love to know! Actually - I will demand to know. I will galdly take part of a class action suit - I will also push for a law to be passed to make that action illegal - it is very simple really - -make banks process items in order they receive and / or lowest to highest. That's it - period.
WHat banks go from lowest to highest - does anyone know? I will gladly switch!!!
