Miscellaneous

My brother was looking for a Dodge Ram and we saw an ad on the Atlanta Journal Constitution of some specials they were having. On Monday, I called and spoke with a James Ornsby who told me that they still had trucks available under that price. When my brother and I arrived we were told that the special was only for the weekend and did not apply for the week. I did not have the AD to confirm that it said that the special was only friday, saturday and sunday.

Mr. Ornsby told us that he would try to help as much as possible. At that time a younger salesman, Sean, came up to us and asked us what color truck we were interested in. We told him black, and he drove it up to the door. We waited a couple of hours and they came up with a high car payment. Several times we asked at what price they were selling the truck to us, and several times they said we are giving you the best price we can. We are trying to get close to the price on the Ad. Not once did they disclosed the price.

They told us that if we wanted something with lower payments that they had a used truck we could get (they had already brought it to the entrance so we could see it). We said no. When we were leaving the sales manager and Mr. Ornsby told us that what else did we want, that they were giving us the truck with low payments. We told him that it was not the car payment we were looking for. Then they started asking about a lease (I am not crazy about leases, I have heard horror stories).

We told them we were not interested. We asked several times we asked how much was the truck being offer to us, they did not want to disclose it. We left the showroom. Several days later on the weekday newspaper, we saw the same Ad again about the trucks. I called upset and spoke with a J.C. Person. I explain that I was deceived, that I was told the special price was only for the weekend and there it was on the weekday newspaper. I also brought up the fact that the previous newspaper did not have a date when the sale would be over.

He put me on hold and apologized for the problem, he came back and said that he could sell me the truck at that price if I came to the showroom. I contacted my brother and told him about it. He said it was fine. I called the dealer back and spoke with J.C. I told him we would be there that evening, he told me that he was leaving but that the manager was there and he knew about the problem and to ask for him.

We went to the dealer we asked for Jim, we waited about 35 minutes. Finally, we were told that he had left. Sean, previous salesman, came up and asked what the problems was, we told him that we had called and told to ask for Jim. He said that we had gotten what we asked for. I told him the car payment was not what we were looking for.

His reply was that on the Ad there was a stock #, and the truck that we applied for was not the stock #. I told him, that he was the one that came up to us and asked us what color truck we wanted. I did not pick the truck out. After a while we were pretty much upset because we were deceived not once but twice. And they sure showed that they did not care either.

I asked for the general manager's name and not one wanted to tell me. Mr. Ornsby walked by us and he was walking with a customer and he stopped to tell us that he tried to help us but that we weren't happy. I told him that he did not answer our questions mainly at what price was the truck being sold for. He actually stood with his customer and argue with me. I finally told him that I did not think it was professional of him to argue in front of a customer.

Before I left I asked for them to write the supposedly deal they were trying to work out with us. They wrote that they were offering it for $20,000 with $1400 EPP (I think this is the extended warranty that we never asked for) with the trade in allowance and negative equity at a high interest rate. I know that this quote was not true because since the beginning we asked the price and not once did they want to disclose it.

I will make sure that anyone even contemplating going there will be talked out of. I definitely did it with some customers that were sitting out there. I told them that they better get everything in writing because they would definitely get ripped off.
