Scam on Free Trial No Invoice Charges on Credit Card

On 6/1/08, I signed up for a free trial package of the Bell Brite tooth whitening system. They emailed me an invoice that stated that my trial package was no cost and shipping was only $4.87. No where did it state that I would be be receiving a complete program package as well in the shipment which arrived on 6/6/08. There was no invoice in my box which I received, explaining what the two boxes (one labeled "free trial", one labeled "complete program") were, that I received, and what the cost would be for the pack labeled "complete program". I never received an invoice from the company in the box! I had no idea that the second box was part of a membership program.

Today, 6/13/08, my bank showed a pending transaction for $78.41. I called their customer service # 1-866-366-8424 and asked what the charge was for. The representative told me that I was charged because I did not return the "complete program" box back before the deadline of 6/12/08 and that I was enrolled in the membership program. I was furious and told the person that I didn't want the second package and to give me a RMA#, and to cancel my membership immediately. I told the representative that I never received any information about a monthly membership, nor a packing slip stating that I had to return the package before a deadline to not be charged. She told me it was too late and that they would not refund my money! I told her to cancel the membership immediately, which she did and sent me a followup email to show that the membership was cancelled.

I am now out $78.41 for a rediculous box of two gel syranges and a plastic tray. I am going to dispute this charge through my bank and hopefully, I can get my money refunded.

P.S. Beware of these free offers. They sign you up for a high monthly membership fee, before you can catch it and cancel the membership! I went back through some other offers after this happened and caught two other similar situations where there was a membership activated.
