"UNAUTHORIZED" membership and monthly debit of $24.97 to my checking account

Miscellaneous

18 months ago, i received a call from telemarketer offering $120 worth of vouchers for free gas if i would except a free trial membership to their savings coupons program.

I told them then that i did not want to join the program. The telemarketer assured me that i was not under any obligation since it was a trial offer, all i had to do when i received their package in the mail, was to call and cancel the membership, and i would still be allowed to keep the gas vouchers for free. Sounded good to me.

They told me that all it would cost me was $2.95 for shipping & handling. Of course they needed my debit card for the transaction. I agreed.

As soon as i received the packet, i called immediately and cancelled the membership. And i thought that that was the end of the story.

After 18 months, i discovered that my checking account had been debited each of those months for the amount of $24.97. I called the company at 1888-538-4791 and told them that this was fraudalent and unauthorized. Immediately, they offered to refund 6 months. I said, fine, but what about the other 12 months totalling in the amount of approx. $300? They were adamant in their refusal to pay any more than 6 months.
