Posted a check they generated to my Mother's checking acct for $99.90/ this was not authorized

March 20 my 87 yr. Old Mother and I went to National City BAnk to dispute a check which had appeared on her Feb/March checking acct statement. The copy of this check had an illegible 866 phone #. It was a check generated by whomever/which required no signature and of course had a number not in the sequence of her checks. The amount was $99.90. After two months and hearing nothing from the bank and not seeing $99.90 credited to her acct in the next check statement I inquired in person. Gee, after many phone calls I was told it was not found to be in question! This happens to many older folks where they authorize _? _ to pay for items by phone or whatever. Mother says she did not do this on the phone! She had received a packet of offers which we sent back before the date indicated. Then she moved to Arizona to live with my sister! We closed this checking acct without further inquiries with this bank! This packet was returned to her new AZ address via the forward we left. There was no such p.O. Box! Now my sister is trying to work on this problem which in located in Chandler Arizona.

My concern is on the internet, directmag.com, there is a report about this "outfit" being indited/charged in 2002. Why if there is an inditment would this same scam still be operating in 2008 from the same Chandler, AZ location?
