United Marketing Group (UMG) Mysterious Deductions

On 5/15/08 I reviewed a charge on my Visa card that I had previously thought was a charge for clothing that my wife or daughter had purchased. I was charged $14.95 (5) times, from Dec 07 through Apr 08. I called the contact number listed on the bill and was told that the payment was deducted for a discount fee on purchases. When I asked "what purchases" I was told that it was in reference to their affiliate company (Woman Within) P.O. Box 4404 Taunton, MA. 02780-0418.

I told them we had no recollection of signing up for anything like that and they needed to stop the deductions now. Then they offered to credit my account with (2) of the deductions $29.90. I agreed and said goodby.

I then called Woman Within to complain and they confirmed their affiliation with UMG, but could not help with any other information.

I pray that those folks struggling every week to survive are not hurt by this kind of stuff.
