Big Bucks and a Whole lot of Wammys

My husband and I moved into our home almost 3 years ago. Our home was built in 1925 and has rubber roofs on either side with a gable in the middle.

We were told that they both needed replaced. We checked out several companies and used one that was associated with the HBA and generally had a good reputation.

The cost of each roof was about $3,000. A total of about $6,000 for the job. Ouch in the pocket book! We wrote out IOU's and started the process.

Shortly after the job was completed and we paid the entire amount - Both roofs started leaking. Actually, it was literally raining in my living room. It was raining through the ceiling in several different locations, down through the walls, window, moulding, and book shelves. It was surreal. We lost our entire living room ceiling and large chunks of each wall. The destruction to the interior alone was over $5,000, plus the loss of both roofs.

The company owner told me to "just sue me", and then I find out that he's going bankrupt. He sent me an uninsured and inexperienced contracted roofer that provided nothing more than shotty and poor craftsmanship. I wouldn't have this guy build a roof on my dogs house! We have extremely well documented information, pictures, and expert opinions that our roof wasn't installed correctly.

My husband and I are at a complete loss at what to do. I suffer from Panic Disorder and am having attacks every day over this. My husband and I are praying for some help and retrobution for our pain and loss. We have our hands tied and feel completely victimized.

What happened to honesty, competent work, and integrity??
