United Family Circulations Magazines for children's hospital - ripoff

Two young men rang my doorbell and said they were with the Bandits Traveling Baseball team and were selling books/magazines to help them earn
money to go to Maui, Hawaii to play in the world series.

They stated that the magazines / books would go to a local children's hospital for the children to read.

They had a sponsor to pay for 1/2 of their trip expenses and that they just needed to earn enough to pay the rest of the money and that their parents had found this fundraiser to help them. They said there had been a small write-up in the paper about their good fortune to be going to Hawaii.

They were very friendly and said they had moved into the neighborhood about six months ago and named a couple of our neighbors that had purchased from them.

I live in a new neighborhood and do not know all the neighbors yet, so I believed them. I did get a little suspicious when they were about to leave, I asked them what school they attended and they both said they
were out of school and were not attending college and that this ballteam was a way for them to get exposure with scouts that would be at the world series games in Hawaii.

So, after writing them a check, I got on the internet and was going to the paper (AJC) to try and find the write-up and see what it said, that is when I realized something was wrong. I could find nothing in the archives of the paper about them, so I did a search on Quality Subscriptions in Buford Ga. And that is where I found all the reports about this rip-off. I hope this will help others to be better informed before falling for this type of scam.

It's a sad world we live in when companies resort to this type of business practices.
