Ripoff operating in VA

Thank you to all who already wrote reports on this company. I wish I'd read them sooner.

A smooth young man showed up at my door today, having "just moved into the neighborhood, " going around "embarassing himself to all the neighbors."

He claimed his baseball team was raising money to go to the "finals" in Hawaii by selling books. As he handed me the list of available items, be mentioned (by name) neighbors that really didn't want any of the books, so opted to sponsor some kids at St Jude's Children's Hospital instead.By the way... The two neighbors he mentioned have horses... He couldn't miss mine as he came up the drive.

So, yes... I fell for the local kid combined with the St Jude's appeal. I made my check out to UPSI.

As he drove away (rural area), my gut feeling kicked in and I looked this up on the 'Net. Sure enough, now the whole episode made no sense.

The kid told me where he lived... Just past MR X. When I said I didn't realize there had been any houses for sale over there, he said they were just renting until their new home was finished. When I aksed where that was, he just vaguely waved his arm in the opposite direction, where there happens to be a lot of development going on.

Bottom line is that, in this case, he didn't even try to sell any books or magazines, but managed to get me to write a check (to Ultimate Power sales) that I thought would benefit St Judes. "If I get 12 more kids sponsored I can quit and go home."
huh?

So, USPI... Others have said they bought magazine subscriptions meant to go to charitable organizations.in this case, it sounds like you are collecting funds to distribute to charitable organizations directly.
